traditional houses were built to be efficient and strong because back in those days people didn't always have a lot of material to waste and they needed houses that would be durable. that's why even today we see old traditional farm houses that are over 100 years old. this traditional house's plans remind me of houses like that.
at the front of this traditional house there's a small porch that leads to the main entrance. in this main entrance area there's also a closet to the side and some area to put shoes and boots and coats. another door connects this entrance with the rest of the house.
this is actually a very open house on the inside. about half of the main floor is free from obstruction. at the front of the house there's a living room area and at the back there's a dining area. since they blend in with one another they give a lot of flexibility for how to lay out the furniture. there could be a small dining room table that leaves lots of room for the living room or there could be a large dining room table that doesn't leave as much living room room. the choice is yours!
in the back corner next to the dining area there's the kitchen. it is shaped like the letter c and it has ample counter space and ample cupboards too. there is even some bar seating between it and the dining area! this is an efficient kitchen layout that will make home chefs very happy. there is a lot of counter space so preparing meals becomes a lot more convenient and there's even a pantry area near the kitchen entrance too!
going back toward the front entrance from the kitchen we find the stairs along one side of the house and between the stairs and the entrance room we find a washroom with a toilet and a sink and it also looks like it has space for a laundry room too. but back to the stairs! there are stairs leading up and there are stairs leading down. there is a landing part way down the stairs leading down and it looks like there's a side door leading to the outside at this point. there are also stairs going up that wrap around above the stairs going down. these stairs lead to the upper level.
the upper level has a traditional layout where it is basically broken up into quadrants. but this house plan makes sure that some of the walls have good angles which makes it a little bit less traditional but it also makes it a lot more interesting and visually appealing. at the top of the stairs there isn't much of a hallway but it's more of a landing that connects to all of the rooms. there is a linen closet accessible from this area.
at the back of the house there are two bedrooms. one of the bedrooms has a rectangular closet between it and the other bedroom. the other bedroom is slightly smaller and it has a closet with a unique shape. it goes to a blunt point at one end. it also has an angled wall by its door and i think that this angled wall really gives it some character.
at the front of the house we find what i'm going to call the master bedroom. it is square shaped and it is the largest of the three bedrooms. it has a spacious walk in closet that also has a unique shape. it sort of curves around slightly because it also has a angled wall. it looks like this closet does have much space for storage of clothes and shoes and other accessories.
also at the front of the house beside the master bedroom we find the bathroom. it's a large and open bathroom. there's a large tub in one corner at the front of the house and in one of the other corners there is a shower. between the tub and the shower there is a toilet. across from the toilet there is a sink and a counter. in the middle it is wide open though. this is a very good thing to have in this kind of a bathroom because it makes it feel less like a bathroom and more like just another room in the house. this is useful for when you're relaxing in the tub. you don't want it to feel like it's a small room!
so this house is traditional in many ways. it has lots of traditional values. but that doesn't mean it can't be modern too! like we've seen it has modern amenities that i think would make it a great house to live in. there is lots of living and dining space and there are good bedrooms and a great bathroom on the upper floor. it's a real winner i think.
